Nivea Q10

Last year in August Black Pearl Film was producing a TV commercial for Beiersdorf. I was shooting the stills for this production. The goal was to shoot alongside the film camera to achieve a similar look between the TVC and the photos. We were shooting one day close to Munich in the mountains and three more days at various locations in Hamburg. It was a lot of fun to be a part of this.

Client: Beiersdorf

Here are some of my personal favourites from this job…

Here is the Directors Cut of the TVC.

Maximilian Magnus

In July I shot my first commercial job for Nivea in Portugal. During a break on one of the production days I took some quick portraits of our male model Maximilian. The morning light was just perfect, so my job was quite easy.

Besides being a great model, Max is also a very talented painter. Check out his Website if you like.

These are the only images I can share so far. The work I shot for Nivea will come out next summer, so stay tuned…

Sparkasse - Mittelstand ist einfach

In February I got asked to shoot a campaign for Sparkasse alongside a film production by Black Pearl Film.
We were shooting at three locations in Germany over a time period of 10 days.
The film team was shooting short films about the bosses of three different medium-sized businesses and how the Sparkasse helped them to fund their companies.

My goal was to shoot the same stories they were capturing, but as still images.
Here are some of my personal favourites from this production.

Client: Sparkasse
Agency: Jung von Matt / Spree
Art Direction: Frances Rohde
Production: Black Pearl Film
Director: Benjamin Wolff
Hair/Make up: Valentina Kaminker

The first location was a car service station in Rendsburg.

From Rendsburg we went to our second location - TechniSat in Dippach. They are building navigation systems for all major car companies.

Our last location was a company that extracts gravel out of the river Weser. This gravel is called “Weserkies” and is used for road construction and structual engineering.

It was great being a part of this production! The short films can be seen here…

Udo

Two weeks ago I got to photograph my friend Udo Leichauer in my home studio. He is a creative director at Leo Burnett Frankfurt and a really great guy. I wanted to try out some different lighting techniques and create a very moody and dark look. I also wanted to test out my new camera - a Canon 5DsR with 50 megapixels. I was really blown away by the quality which comes really close to medium format in my opinion. I have worked with Phase One cameras quite a bit and it’s hard to see the difference to be honest.

Here are my three favourites from my portrait session with Udo.
